Why do people look down on pornstars like they're scum?

I don't understand. What they do [pornstars] is legitimate. In it's most fundamental form, a pornstar is someone who has sex with another(s) in front of the camera for money. People may see it as prostitution but for me it's just a more physical and intimate form of acting. Is there a stigma attatched to pornography because there are those who see it as degrading to both men and women? Is it morally wrong to those who are religious because it is the worst form of fornication?

I've always considered getting into porn. I know it's something alot of my friends (and I'm sure other males) think about but would never actually pursue seriously. Why? Because the porn industry is one that is seen as a vice filled degraded one. Once you affiliate yourself with porn (whether watching or participating in it) you are seen as a 'pervert', 'sex freak' or some other similar adjectives along those lines. Hence the reason if I ever was to actually get into the industry I would refrain from ever telling my parents about what I do. I know they would look down on me for even considering such a profession let alone doing it.

But do you guys think pornography and the pornstars who create it are sinners and at worst lower than crap? (Yes, I'm talking to those of you who watch it on a daily basis also).
